本校は1971年、ヨーロッパで2番目の日本人学校として開校し、2026年度に創立56年目を迎えました。現在では約430名の児童生徒が学ぶ、北米・欧州地域でも最大級の日本人学校へと発展し、週末には日本語補習授業校も開設されるなど、地域における日本語教育の拠点としての役割も担っています。

ここデュッセルドルフは、美しいライン川の両岸に広がる国際都市です。世界各国から多くの企業や人々が集い、多様な文化や価値観が共生しています。本校の子どもたちは、この恵まれた環境の中で、日本の教育を基盤としながら、世界へと視野を広げ、日々学びを深めています。

本校の教育目標は、「豊かな心をもち、国際感覚を身につけ、学び続ける子どもの育成」です。日本人としての豊かな人間性や確かな学力を育むとともに、多様な文化や価値観を尊重し、自ら考え、判断し、行動できる力を育てることを目指しています。

本校の今年度の合言葉は、「ONE JISD」です。

「ONE」には、
One Team（みんなでつながる）、
Only One（一人一人を大切にする）、
One World（世界とつながる）、
One Step（未来へ踏み出す）
という四つの願いを込めています。子どもたち、保護者、教職員、地域の皆様が心を一つにし、一人一人の個性と可能性を伸ばす教育を進めています。

そして、その合言葉のもと、私たちが目指す学校の姿が「選ばれる日本人学校」です。

子どもたちにとって「毎日通いたい学校」、保護者の皆様にとって「安心して任せられる学校」、教職員にとって「働きがいのある学校」、そして地域の皆様にとって「応援したい学校」となるよう、小・中一貫教育の強みを生かしながら、国際理解教育や国際交流、ドイツ語・英語教育、ICT教育の充実を図り、一人一人が「わかった」「できた」という学ぶ喜びを実感できる教育を推進してまいります。

また、本校では、子どもたちが「知る」だけでなく、「体験し、考え、行動する」ことを何より大切にしています。異文化交流や現地理解、自然体験、探究的な学びなど、本物との出会いや豊かな体験を通して、自ら学び続ける力と未来を切り拓く力を育んでまいります。

本校の教育活動は、保護者の皆様、父母会、理事会、在デュッセルドルフ日本国総領事館、日本クラブ、姉妹校であるCecilien-Gymnasium Düsseldorfをはじめとする現地校、関係機関や地域の皆様の温かいご理解とご支援に支えられています。心より感謝申し上げます。

Principal’s Message

Welcome to the website of the Japanese International School of Düsseldorf. Thank you very much for your visit.

Our school was founded in 1971 as the second Japanese school in Europe. In 2026, we proudly mark our 56th year of history. Today, with approximately 430 students, we are one of the largest Japanese international schools in the North American and European regions. In addition, our weekend Japanese supplementary school also plays an important role in supporting Japanese language education in the local community.

Düsseldorf is a vibrant international city located along the beautiful Rhine River. It is home to many global companies and people from around the world. In this rich and diverse environment, our students learn each day based on the Japanese curriculum while broadening their perspectives through multicultural experiences.

Our educational goal is:
“To nurture students with rich hearts, global awareness, and a lifelong commitment to learning.”

We aim to develop students who not only maintain their Japanese identity and academic foundations, but also respect diverse cultures and values, and who can think, decide, and act independently in an ever-changing world.

Our educational approach is guided by the concept of “ONE JISD.”

To achieve this, we promote integrated primary and secondary education, enhance international understanding and exchange, strengthen German and English language learning, and develop ICT skills. We also place great importance on helping each student experience the joy of learning through “I understand” and “I can do it.”

At our school, we believe that learning should go beyond acquiring knowledge. We value learning through hands-on experience, reflection, and action. Through intercultural exchange, engagement with the local environment, nature-based activities, and inquiry-based learning, we aim to cultivate students who continue to learn independently and who can shape their own future.

Our educational activities are made possible through the strong support of our parents, the Parents’ Association, the Board of Directors, the Consulate-General of Japan in Düsseldorf, the Japanese Club, our partner school Cecilien-Gymnasium Düsseldorf, local schools, and many community partners. We sincerely express our gratitude.

Building on more than half a century of history and tradition, we will continue to embrace new educational challenges. Together with all stakeholders, we are committed to maximizing each child’s potential and creating a school where students can proudly say, “I am glad I studied at the Japanese International School of Düsseldorf,” and where families feel confident saying, “I am glad we chose this school.”
